So I got my GTX 670 settled into the T5500, but the temps are a little too hot. At full load GPU temps were hitting 90+ C, so I rearranged some of the PCI cards and got it down to 87C. However, on the GTX 670 throttling is supposed to kick in at around 82C, so I figure I'm losing some performance.

The T5500 actually doesn't have much cooling for a dual CPU system. There's a single 120mm intake in the bottom front and it only has the PSU at the top rear for exhaust. There are 2x80mm brackets in the rear, but they came empty. Even if I populate them, though the extra airflow will only go directly over the RAM and CPU, not the PCIe slots. Would putting two 80mm fans in help the GPU temps at all?

Thanks. Guess I missed a check box in Speedfan before. Works now. Set the fans to 100%. Did help with CPU and GPU temps a couple degrees after long gaming sessions. Not surprising given they flow 150-cfm each at full speed.

Forgot to mention one thing. I did change out the flow through rear slot covers with solid ones to help force more air out the top. Probably not worth the trouble if you don't have some lying around.

Yeah for me, cranking the fans up to 100% only dropped temps by 2-3*C. Not really worth all the noise. Maybe at 60%-70% it might be worth it. One thing I do want to try is blocking the empty 80mm slots with a piece of paper and see if that forces more air up and over the GPU, then out the PSU.

One oddity I noticed with Speedfan is that it only picked up the temps from my 7300GS, not the GTX 670, so I can't tie the case fans automatically to the GPU temp. Still experimenting...
