My Macbook Pro sometimes activates its cooling fan out of the blue. It happens during the times the laptop is on. I don't run programs such as Google for long periods of time but it still goes off for at least 10 minutes or so. Where can I properly diagnose this problem? What would be the common issue here if not dealing with overclocking?

Solution
That's not a problem, that's normal laptop behavior. Those things try to safe as much power as possible/run as quiet as possible. As a result, they turn CPU and GPU fans off completely until the components get to a certain temperature. Then they run for a while, and when the components are back down to a certain temperature, cooling turns off again. You can download HWInfo to look at fans and temps if you want. However, as I said, it's normal behavior and nothing to worry about.

This was quite helpful, thank you for that.
