Sorry to post it in here...s'pose it's more fun that discussing which new chip will be hotter 😉

Anyway, simple question is how would i copy the entire contents of one HDD (booting windows 2k) onto a blank HDD?

AMD Is An Anagram Of MAD, Intel Is An Anagram Of INLET, Cyrix...Ah Who Cares?

Using backup softwares such as Norton Ghost or PowerQuest Drive Image.

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.

Nortons Ghost 2002 & 2003, there are others that can do it, I'm sure you'll get diverse opinions, but these will definitely do it. Ghost 2001, will not do it, but works great for FAT32 9x systems.

Addressing the How, using the Ghost floppy bootdisk, to keep from getting confused, set the source drive as master on Primary or IDE1, set the receiving drive as master on Secondary or IDE2, boot from the floppy and select Local, Disk to Disk and make sure the Disks are properly designated, and give it permission to clone the drive.

Easy and FREE, Maxtor MaxBlast Plus is available from http://www.maxtor.com. You simply choose the advanced options and "copy an entire partition".

You can't beat free, and the software works great, even on non-Maxtor hard drivs.

There is a note on MaxBlast3 that this software requires at least 1 Maxtor ATA HD installed in order to run it.
(Anyway, I didn't see MaxBlast Plus anywhere in Maxtor site)

Grr, perhaps the newest version does a drive check. And it looks like they plugged the leaks on their website, as I used to be able to download older versions.

So you might want to do a websearch for MaxBlast Plus and MaxBlast Plus 2. My favorite version is 1.27.
