Just take a step back, and wait a little longer... We've all been waiting for these thing for more than a month and EVERYONE is trying to get their hands on one as soon as possible... Of course this is going to cause a shortage this being a brand new product, which in turn means retailers can charge a premium on the first shipments. You know you'll be happier in the long run if you give is just a little more time and let the price level out.. just a LITTLE more time... ...my 2 cents.
Just like going to a concert at the last minute. If you want decent seats, you will be buying them from a scalper, and paying through the nose.

I spent almost 2K yesterday. Video card from newegg. CPU, mobo, thermal goo from buy.com, and everything else(monitor,kb,mouse, case, etc) from zzf. I guess the e6600's have since showed up on newegg but I was getting impatient so I got into that queue at buy.com before they showed up on newegg, I would have rather done zzf all the way(free shipping!) but they were out of stock on some stuff. I can't be camping these sites to try and grab things as soon as they appear, so I am doing the backorder thing with buy.com for the cpu and mobo. How fast did the e6600's run out from newegg? I bet it was a matter of minutes. I sure hope buy.com will ship to me soon.

I am pretty happy with the amount I paid for the stuff I ended up picking, I hope it all gets here before Aug 23rd so I can use it for school.

I ordered:
Intel E6600
Asus p5w DH Deluxe
Corsair DDR2-675 XMS2-5400
2 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
Asus en7600gt fanless
M-Audio Delta 44 Audio Card
Antec P150 Mid Tower Case
Liteon 16X DVD±RW
Logitech MX518 Mouse
Logitech Ultra X Keyboard
Viewsonic VA902B 19in LCD

This is more of an audio box rather than a game rig, I will prolly end up replacing the cpu cooler and buying a 500 dollar pair of speakers too, but I gotta pace myself, I am running low on money now. It should be pretty nice, no gpu or chipset fans, suspended hard drives, yay! Later on I wanna get another LCD, maybe a nicer gfx card too once we get dx10, hopefully there will be some decent ones without noisy fans.

I am a bit concerned though, about this neoHe 430 power supply that comes with this case, and about whether the heatsink 7600gt card will fit inside, and if there will be room left over for a less noisy aftermarket cpu cooler. I am not trying to overclock, I just want the machine to be quiet so I can make fun noises better. Not really big issues though, I kinda hlf expect to change the power supply just because it came with the case, and I can use onboard video while I return the 7600 if the thing is too big to fit, cuz I am running mostly noisy programs, not pretty ones.

I have some questions I know they are newbie but I still dont know the Why

What is the L1 cache for? and the L3 for?
Why intel has been making processors with 32kb L1 cache and not maybe 64kb, 128kb or 256kb? or maybe add some L3 that I heard give a little boost?

I've learned about this quite a while back, I think i still remember =p. I *think* for L1 cache, the smaller it is, the faster it is. But you dont want it TOO small. Something along those lines. Unlike L2 and L3 cache sections which are slower then L1, so those sizes dont matter.

then why some AMD have 64kb+64kb in L1 cache? making it 128kb?

also are you saying 32kb is the best? I half understod your answer. Can somebody explain me why the smaller it is the better it is? Im gonna take a look at wikipedia and see what I find

Anyone talk to newegg and find out when they THINK they will restock? no ETA listed on the web yet. I am wondering if it is smarter to backorder it on another website (like zipzoomfly or tiger) or just wait for newegg and try to catch the next wave before it sells out in 30 min like everywhere else.

All I can say is that NewEgg will sold out for the E6600 and E6700 in less than 1 hour. They ship international so if you dont stay in your computer 24 hours a day for the next week you might not get any conroe from them. Some thing with ZZF.

Im in backordered with TG, Im thinking to cancel my order but if you start thinking, you are not gonna get any conroe when they appear for sale in NE and ZZF. So im gonna keep my order in TD because a representative told me they are shipping conroes for people who ordered on the 27, they will ship them on the 14.

As far as I know Newegg doesn't ship internationally.

yikes, orderd on july 27, sent on aug 14th from tigerdirect?

that is nasty

I ordered from buy.com on the 7th, you think the wait will be as long there? I am hesitatnt to call and ask, but I figured I wouldnt have the good timing to score one on newegg or zzf so I went ahead and did the backorder thing, I sure hope I made the right choice.

I guarantee myself that I got one by buying on TD.

ANDDD if they dont send me the tracking number on the 14. Im gonna sure cancel my order that same day :)

and wait for retails on new egg or stores. I dont have worrys to buy it now because im waiting for the 590 SLI intel so.... I can wait

Speaking of paying thorough the nose.. am I seeing this right? Newegg had the E6600 at $419 last night, not in stock, and tonight, it's still not in stock, but the price is now $459.

Eff that.. I've been without a computer since my desktop died almost two months ago, so I'm at least as in a hurry to upgrade as any of you.. but I'm not going to pay a 45% markup just to be one of the first to have a new core 2. Furthermore, I don't think I'll be using newegg like I planned, because this is just getting rediculious, charging $459 for a processor they paid $316 for, that they don't even have in stock because of availability problems is pretty much price gouging IMO.

anyone else get a notice from zipzoomfly that the 6600 was back in stock this afternoon? i noticed it when i got home but by then it was sold out again

Hey I got that email too but I just opened now and is out of stock, there is another topic which I just replied and the 2 guys said the samething out of stock.
