core i5 3470 vs i5 3350p for gaming....

Which processor should i buy for my new pc, core i5 3470 or 3350p ? I am going to get a discrete graphics card (radeon hd7770) ... In which case does the cheaper 3350p will be enough ? Or should i go for the 4th generation i5 processors in the same range ?

Those 2 are pretty close in performance, and for it's price, the 3350p, when using a discrete graphics card is a great choice. Go for it.

Is the i5-3350P (Ivy Bridge) comparable with i3-4130 (Haswell)? The former is 4 cores 4 threads while the latter is 2 cores 4 threads. I'm deciding between the two since the motherboard platforms are different and will affect how I upgrade in future. I'm thinking to skip Haswell architecture altogether because LGA 1150 is a dead socket with no future, and Intel doesn't drop price on current models. Ivy Bridge on the other hand is one generation earlier, and cheaper, and prices are dropping on Core i7 processors from second-hand sellers.

I will be using a Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 graphics card so the integrated graphics like HD 2500, HD 4000, or HD 4600 don't matter. i5-3350P is cheaper because it doesn't have the graphics.

The i5-3350P is basically the i5-3340 but without integrated graphics. Ivy Bridge motherboards are also cheaper than Haswell motherboards. So it makes good sense to pair a ASRock B75M-DGS with i5-3350P, cheaper than Haswell combination.
