I'm gonna build a new desktop and it's gonna be used mainly for audio processing which uses heavy CPU hungry plugins.
My main software is REAPER , it's very well optimized for multi-core processors.
I may not be able to afford i7 5960 , but if the difference is huge, I can wait till I have the money.
can anyone please tell me how much is the difference between these three processors? are x99s worth it?

It's really , really really hard for me to buy these expensive hardware , but I will if it's worth the price
I need to know if it's worth it , how much faster are these new ones gonna process? because they're like 3x more expensive , are they at least 50% faster? not on the paper , I mean can they actually process that much faster?

See http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=70341 - "Reaper doesn't really have system requirements in and of itself beyond "you need a WinXP or OSX machine." Obviously, beefier CPU = more tracks, more effects. Beefier RAM = better performance with sample libraries. As far as HDD performance, CPU's more of the bottleneck as far as track count is concerned. HDD throughput is at the point where your disk can push way more tracks than you have the CPU to process."

So anything will do. But the more the merrier.

You can't just use a CPU without the rest of the PC. What's your budget for a whole PC? Any particular requirements?

I don't know how much money I'm gonna have! I mean , I have enough money to buy this pc:

Asus Z97M-Plus
Core i7 4790K
Corsair - 16GB -(2x8GB) - 2133 Vengeance Pro
Power,3TBs of HDD and an 128gb SSD.

if this system is gonna look like **** in front of the newer x99 ones and there are huge differences that are going to cause me problems , then I might be able to wait for like three months , earn some more money then buy an x99 desktop.

The problem is that my country's currencies and prices are different.
based on newegg.com prices , my budget is around $1400.
but again , if newer CPUs have much better performance/price ratio I can wait and add around 600~800 dollars , I need to know how much difference I'm actually going to see if I buy the more expensive CPUs

Mawbat, I am also running Reaper , since 2010 . Recording live, I can track 16 mics and give 4 separate headphone mixes at 64 samples/1.2ms latency. Once just for fun I tried adding dozens of tracks with multiple effects (reverbs) , vst/vsti on every track and my 5 year old system has no problem at 64 samples/1.2ms latency 48/24bit . My system is an Asus P6T-se with an i7 quad @2.66 . I have 3x2Gb ram (Mushkin Blackline 9-9-9-24 1600) My system drive is a 1 Tb Velociraptor with a 250Gb system partition and the other 750 Gb cold. My audio is saved and read from a second separate 1 Tb Velociraptor. I have two 2Tb WD Black Hdd's for storage. My interface never has any problem with the onboard Asus firewire .
If you are just doing audio, any of the non latest model i7 quads would be more than adequate. You could probably get the MB/CPU/Ram I have for about 1/4 of your budget. I have seen "off lease" quad core computers for ~$300 . You don't need the latest 6 core for audio. And if you're not tracking a band (i.e. you're recording yourself 1 track at a time) you could easily get by with an "off lease" complete E8400 3ghz core2duo or i3 system for about $150 (make sure it's not a small form factor) and 4Gb minimum ram , add a 250Gb SSd , a large data drive . I would suggest an intel or Samsung 250Gb SSD for your system drive and the Velociraptors are nice but not necessary for audio. WD Black or Seagate 7200 (non green) 1-2 Tb drives are fine for the audio drive. A $65 BD burner is nice to archive projects, i've had good luck with LG wh14ns, wh16ns and Pioneer BD-2209 burners. A big thing for audio is consistency of data flow, you don't want anything in your system causing hiccups or latency...best to keep the system dedicated for audio, or at least unplug the ethernet or turn internet off while tracking mics if it cant be a dedicated system. Also, optimizing the system and OS for audio makes a big difference in performance. Video processing and rendering is MUCH more CPU hungry then audio plugins and vsti . The newer quads and 6 core i7's are great if you need to edit some video/graphics or are a gamer or CAD . Good luck with your build.

Why the hell would you use a $150 motherboard and a $360 gpu for audio processing?!?
Same for the h100i. Noctua nh-d15 is cheaper, quieter, stronger. And a $150 case? For the money you throw away here he could even step up to x99 and get better performance.
