Hey Danish Ali, These Xeon E5 2670v1 are only good when you can buy them used for cheap. Yes you can buy them for cheap price. You can buy those used xeon for around 6000 Rs (INR) per piece from aliexpress. I purchased that same processor from there only. And you can not overclock any xeon, if you buy costly asus server motherboard, still you will be able to overclock only 2-3% which is not worth, apart from that server motherboards have lots of issues related to RAM support (They support only specific brand RAMs). In RAW rendering power dual e5 2670 will be 60% (1.6 times) faster than a non overclocked i7 6800k. Most of the i7 6800k can only maximum overclock to 4.0Ghz on cheap air coolers, 4.1 and 4.2Ghz needs good liquid cooler, and 4.3ghz needs very high end custom water cooling. and 4.4Ghz is impossible for this I7 6800k, only very few chips overclock to 4.4Ghz. What I am trying to tell you is, you are not going to render videos every time 24x7, right ?
You will only do rendering after finishing your work, right ?
and from my experience 3ds Max and Maya use multicore processors, I know a 10 core 20 threads i7 6950x will be much faster than 6 core 12 thread i7 6800k in rendering work. But they are same generation.
But multithread performance of a old 8 core e5 2670 is equal to current 4 core i7 7700k in rendering.
What you can do here is buy i7 6850k because it easily overclocks to 4.4Ghz with good liquid cooler, i7 6800k do not overclock much.
And now AMD Ryzen 7 1800X is also released which is only little more faster than i7 6900k (8core).
But that AMD is only for gamers, not at all for 3d max Maya and after effects work.
Ryzen 7 1800x vs i7 6850K
14nm - 14nm
max overclock 4.0Ghz - 4.5 Ghz
only dual channel ram - Quad channel Ram support. (More bandwidth means 3d max,Maya, after effects project will load much faster).
Max 41-42GB/sec Ram bandwidth. - Max 75-82GB/sec bandwidth due to quad channel rams.
Slower L1 cache - more than 2x faster l1 cache than and ryzen
Cheaper - little costly.
Max 64GB ram supported with 4x16GB rams - Max 128GB ram supported with 8x16GB ram
24 Pci lanes - 40 pci lanes. (more pci lanes is needed if you are going to put multiple graphic card, sound card, pci ssd in future).
it has 16 thread, but some benchmarks shows increased performance when SMT (hyper threading of AMD) is disabled. So, 16 threads in and ryzen is useless. But in Intel hyper threading increases performance in every thing.
So still X99 motherboard and I7 6850K is much more future proof.
Also buy only Zotac Nvidia graphics card, because they are made high quality and warranty is 5 years, no other brand gives 5 years warranty on graphics card , so even after 3 years of use, you can sell that for good price because of remaining warranty.
And for X99 motherboard, I will suggest you Asus Rampage 5 Extreme, also Gigabyte x99 Designare is also good.
And one more thing I forgot to say, Gaming on those dual xeon are really pain, very bad performance and shuttering. I have 3 PCs,
1st PC has i7 3930k overclocked to 4.6Ghz
2nd PC has those dual old xeon e5 2670 @ 2.6Ghz
3rd PC has i7 6800k@ 4.2Ghz
I used 2 different graphic cards, AMD R9 290X and Zotac GTX 1080 AMP Extreme.
Both dual xeon and i7 3930k were bottlenecking both GPUs in benchmark
In valley benchmark @ highest setting @ 1080p and 8X AA,
R9 290 Got 55FPS on dual xeon, 61FPS on i7 3930k and 76 FPS on I7 6800k
GTX 1080 got 71 FPS on dual xeon, 93FPS on i7 3930k and 118FPS on i7 6800K
This answer is too long, but take your time to read all, I am using these items and thats why I am sharing my experience.
If you can buy i7 6900k (its still costly) then its even more better.
I hope all this helps you.
