Core i7 7th gen pc is good? I have to play games on that pc it is good I am planning to buy it next weeek kindly suggest me if anybody got knowledge did not know anything about computers.

Thanks in advance

"Good" can mean all sorts of things. This was a very good CPU when it came out, but it came out more than eight years ago, in early 2017. It will struggle on newer games with significant system requirements. For example, it's below the minimum specs listed for two very recent games, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Clair Obscur. But if you're playing older AAA games or more recent games with lower system requirements, it ought to perform well.

the problem with 7th gen i7 cpu is that it came out right before a "CPU revolution"
it was the last intels quad core flagship cpu and just in 3 years time it got matched by i3 10100
intel was finally forced to release 6 and 8 core i5/i7 cpus into mainstream due to
more aggressive competiton from amds ryzen cpus .

but it all depends on the price and also on what your expectations are
can you post the specs for the entire system and its price ?

but short answer would be no .
i would take 8th gen i7 or the ryzen 3600 as a bare minimum in terms of cpu power for a second hand system .

Thats not true I'm running a i7 7700k & gaming at 4k 60fps with a RTX3090 the 7th gen is a great CPU for its time & still gets everything I need done.

its not the best & only has 4 cores but they are still selling them for around $100.

With that being said I'm upgrading from the i7 7700k to the 14th gen because it is true that the CPU is showing its age.

But if your getting it for free & depending on what your doing its still a great CPU.

yeah at 4K you are also a lot more GPU limited so your cpu can "hide" its age a lot better so to speak .
but even than 1% and 0,1% lows drops and stuttering are inevitable in some newer games and locations .

there you go ...
don´t buy 14th gen though , get either AM5 ryzen 9700x or 1851 core 7 265K .

Yeah, but you can buy a 12100F/13100F/14100F all for under a hundred and they are faster than a 7700k.

You personally should upgrade to a 12700KF if nothing else. All you need is a DDR4 board and you can even keep the memory. Maybe the 265K if you are feeling up to switching to DDR5. I'm holding out for Bartlett Lake, or waiting on Nova Lake to see how that goes.

4K puts most of the burden on the GPU, but there are plenty of single player and multiplayer titles where you would be losing out on FPS.

I'm stuck with the 14th i7, & can't go Ryzon just yet becuase it was a gift from my dad. so I'm hoping with the undervolting & just running it at stock speeds that it won't have degradation issues. 🤣

This will most likely be my last year as team blue though.

How much are you paying for the system? Is its a combo with a GPU, do you have a link to the computer specs?

It seems like their is allot of different varibles to consider if the OP is on a budget or what the story is..

If its a laptop for gaming or a PC tower, its a start?
I use my i7 7700k for Audio Recording, Gaming, surfing the web etc. I can play all the recent titles at decent FPS. If the OP is in a position to buy a 7 then he wants to know more about it.

Also it like said in the discussion it doesn't run Windows 11 Nativly but there is an official work around from Microsoft to do that.

With a REG Edit.

I personally wouldn't want to buy anything that lacks Win11 support. That's just me though.
We have no idea about the market the OP is in or their financial situation.
I wouldn't want to either, but then technology is relatively cheap where I am and I can save up a bit to buy something.
There are a lot of people in countries where tech is super expensive and people make like cents in a day.
If a 7th gen i7 is the best they can afford then it's gonna be fine for a good while for gaming if the GPU is good enough.

I understand that newer tech can be expensive elsewhere, but something like a Ryzen 5 2600 shouldn't be any worse on price anywhere, and supports Win 11, while having better multicore support on top of it. They are less than $40 on Ebay, where an i7 7700 non k is like $50+.
