That's only 3.2ghz, you can go higher. My 19600 @3.6ghz is out the window however.

Windows 7 is hurting it, I lost about 1k marks when I switched. You will get to 20k no problem, it just needs a bit more juice :)

there you go almost 19K

I have then both lol with two sets or mobos and ram now i wanted to know because i had the Phenom II X4 940 was it a bad idea to get the i7 ?

Well i dont think i see a good enough improvment now but i think later in the year games will start benefiting from the architecture of the Core i7 and the Hyper Threding is that a true statment ?

Not really, the 940 is really good, but whe you put both in the scale, the i7 is better that the 940.....maybe the "problem" is that you don't wait much time to try the potential of the 940...

You wont see any improvements over a Phenom II in games. 3DMark itself is not a perfect judge either of it. Only games truly can tell you.

And the benefit of a Core i7 normally wont show until I would say the next gen of GPUs or multiple of current GPUs.

If it was me, I would stick with the Core i7 for the future. It will take some time for it to truly be fully utilized and hopefully it will be able to be a drop in CPU upgrade cuz even current GPUs don't fully saturate a single PCIe 1.1 x16 bus and wont for a PCIe 2.0 x16 buss until the next gen of graphics slot comes out.

Isn't a secret, i say in another reply.....the phenom can't compit with the i7, always will win the i7, inclusive...in some bechmarked the phenom is defeat for the core 2 quad....but i'm an AMD client...

Well the i7 hands down has more brute power than the X4, but for games, I personally don't see the benefits from the i7 to be worth it....however, if you are using your comp for photo/video editing or rendering, then the i7 clearly pwns....

my 2 cents

btw: PsychoSaysDie put up a pic comparing the i7 and other processors to a Phenom I....now that's just plain mean...lol...
