I'm looking to upgrade the core of my machine and sell the existing parts.

I currently have

CONFIG 30 SERIES ASU-Z490FG ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-F GAMING
CSR-3616D CORSAIR LPX BLK 16GB (2X8) 3600 2
CSR-H150XT CORSAIR ICUE H150I RGB PRO XT LI
CSR-RM750X CORSAIR RM750X 80 PLUS GOLD PSU
IL-910900K INTEL I9 10900K RETAIL
PR-3080 NVIDIA RTX 3080
PTK-EPTGBK PHANTEK ENTHOO PRO GLASS BLACK
SAM-97EP5 SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS 500GB NVME

SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS 2TB NVME

I'm looking to upgrade to AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, MOBO and Ram but hopefully keep the rest the same.

I'm looking for a reliable mid-high range motherboard, I usually OC intel but probably won't with the AMD chip. Its main purpose is gaming at 2k.

Any recommendations welcome, first time using AMD. Can anyone foresee issues with current cooler psu and case with the new core?

Something like this would allow you to fit a RTX 4080 Super 16GB which is due for release in a few days from now. That card will smoke the 3080 and then some.

If the RMx750 is working fine and is within warranty, you dont need to change it. Its powering the 3080 without any problems.

If you want to use ICUE :

I don't know if I would get a 4080. It is only roughly 50% faster than the 3080 for another 1000 dollars plus tax. Personally, I would wait for 5000 series graphics cards to spend that kind of money, especially since he already seemingly spent at least 700 dollars on the 3080 in the last 3.5 years. My 3080 and a 5800X3D smokes almost any game already at 1440p with few exceptions like Cyberpunk maxed out + ray tracing and Quality DLSS. With those settings I still get around 65-75 fps depending on where I am.

Yeh planning on holding onto the 3080 for another year or two, it seems fine. Probably upgrade the PSU with the GPU at the same time, probably when a graphics intensive game that takes my fancy comes out.

Thank you for your responses, I will take a look at these combinations.

Do you have a high end board recommendation?

Why spend the extra cash on high end board?

That Riptide mobo listed above got pcie 5.0 ssd support, wifi 6E, decent VRMs for a 105W CPU and all the IO ports necessary for a normal user.

You should look at X670E boards only if you want the extra pcie lanes and missing IO. otherwise you are just overspending on the mobo.

I had an asrock board before and had to return two of them. Also reading review's, that board doesn't have great reliability.

My current board had issues with lan port when it first came out but apart from that operated great, so did its predecessor. I've found issues with mobo can be a pain.
I'm just trying to avoid any issues like this.

As basic as it sounds, I want to try and have at least 4 of the fastest/best usb ports at the rear and decent onboard sound.

^ most mid to high end B650 B650E boards offer what you are looking for.

How much is that X670E? close to or over 300 USD?

if you dont like Asrock, check out Gigabyte Aorus Elite, Asus Strix or MSI Edge B650.
The cooler is missing the attachment i need :(). So annoying the company that built my last pc seems to have not included the am4 bracket... the only one that is missing :D
