Straight from Wusy's Guide:

Please also use RAM that’s rated:
-DDR2-667 4-4-4-xx (good for ~400Mhz*)
-DDR2-800 5-5-5-xx (good for ~410Mhz*)
-DDR2-800 4-4-4-xx (good for 500Mhz+*) ->Best for E6300/E6400
-DDR2-1066 5-5-5-xx (good for 530Mhz+*)

I plan on buying an E6600/Asus P5W, I originally planned for G.Skill HZ Ram.

With current price spikes in Ram, this now costs near $300.00

Since I have absolutely no intention of O/Cing my E6600 to more than 3.6GHZ(I plan to have a 24/7 system) would I be better off switching to a lower memory.

This OCZ Memory is almost $80 cheaper which would help reduce the sting a little when upgrading to 4GB Ram for Vista.

Since the Multiplier on the E6600 is 9x and according to Wusy's Guide the OCZ memory is good for 400MHZ. 9 x 400 = 3600MHZ. This memory will be all I ever need.

Am I right in this thinking? Or is it worth the extra money for the PC6400 ram?

GeiL

Corsair

Geil and Corsair are only 50 to 60 more, which would you choose?

Thanks

Actually the E6600 only needs DDR2 667 as you have said. I say go for the cheapest 667 with 4-4-4 timings. Make sure to research about it hitting 400Mhz though!
