Correct method to OC GTX 970 Asus Strix

I just got a GTX 970 Asus Strix OC edition today and you bet that I want to make this card work hard labor!

I been doing some research on this card and it turns out it maxes at close to 1300Mhz Core and 2000Mhz memory. (Maybe I should've went with another brand?!)

Anyways, what is the correct method to OC'ing this card safely?

I'm currently Furmarking my new OC specs @ 1200Mhz CORE and 1900Mhz MEMORY running at 60C.

Do I keep adding 25 Mhz at a time until I hit a temp. point?

Also, MSI afterburner fans are set at auto.

Make a costum fanprofile in MSI Afterburner, please! Auto it will only run at 20%, you dont want to fry your new GPU.

Why do I need to make a custom profile? (sorry for dumb question)
