Pea size is likely too large. I would go more with 'size of 2 grains of rice'.

If you look at an actual pea, they're quite large compared with the amount of thermal compound you want to apply. With large CPUs like Threadripper, multiple rice-grain spots and even some diagonal lines can be recommended.

I like this test from Puget Systems...shows all sorts of methods and their results...which are nearly identical. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Thermal-Paste-Application-Techniques-170/

And GamersNexus did one on Threadripper, specifically:

Thanks for the answer! I already applied the paste though. I did go with the "size of a BB ball" hopefully temp will improve, I will keep you updated.

Size of a BB...that's actually a pretty good representation. I like it.

Yeah and more universal I guess? aha
Sadly it doesnt seem to have fixed the issue for me my temp have never been higher... im hitting average of 50 C Idle (each 4 sec or so it drop to 36 and immediatly go back to 50ish (highest temp reach 65 C, haven't opened any program)
