Hi,
I ordered my parts a few days ago from Newegg that I will be using, in conjunction with some of my friend's old parts, to build a gaming rig.
My friend is giving me his old Core i5 2500k along with a motherboard.
I ordered these parts from newegg:
PSU: Corsair CX500
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X 16gb DDR3
Case: NZXT S340
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
some wifi card
(I am waiting for the pascal cards to level out in price, which is when I will add a GTX 1070. I will also be adding a SSD)
My question is this: With all the crap I have heard about the Corsair CX500, I have been really worried about my decision. Is it safe to use with these parts? Due to some bios restrictions with the motherboard I will be using (it is a Gigabyte GA z77m d3h), I won't be able to change the CPU vCore. However, I read that I could still get an overclock of about 4.0-4.4 ghz. I don't plan on OC'ing my GPU once I get it (it will be factory OC'd). Will this PSU fit my needs?
Thanks!
