hi this is my first build the cx500 and the cx500 v2 cost the same price which one is better
here are the specs of the set up i will be using

Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz Quad-Core

ASRock H77M Micro ATX LGA1155

Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600

Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM

GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB

Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus (Black) ATX Mid Tower

Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer

What you are seeing labeled as the CX500 is likely the third version. If it's 80 Plus Bronze certified then it would be the "V3" although it's not labeled that. The CX500 V2 is only 80 Plus certified. The newest one is 80 Plus Bronze certified and has a more powerful 12v rail of 38 amps vs 34 amps on the V2. The V2 has been discontinued although they are still available.

The V3 model number is 75-001667 / CP-9020047.

They are both reliable the newer version is just slightly more powerful and more efficient. That model number is different for 2 reasons. 1) The unit you linked to is the CX 500M a modular unit and not the regular CX 500 listed in this post and 2) It' a UK model.

The CX 500M has the same specs as the CX 500 V3. In fact all the CXM units are relatively new and were only released at the same time as the CX series was updated to V3.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I want it to last long and power the system easily. The specs are these:
- intel core i5 3470 Quad core 3.2 ghz;
- corsair vengeance 8gb (2x4) 1600mhz;
- ASUS P8H77-V motherboard;
- Gigabyte GTX 650Ti OC 1GB DDR5;
- Western Digital 1TB 7200RPM 64mb Cache.

So I've got three questions before I make my decision:

- I just need to choose the case now. I'm between Antec 302 and Bitfenix Shinobi. I like the looks of both and I don't want to run into problems with cable routing/management, airflow and space.

- My budget is 600 euros and this is as far as I can go in terms of hardware, will be gaming on 1366x768. Do you think it will serve me well?

- So I'm good with that PSU from the link? Is it good, will it last long? Would you buy it without thinking twice?

I am an Antec fan and have used the 300 series in probably 25 builds. I have never used the Bitfenix but it also has good reviews. Go with the one you like best. Both are very good but you are the one that has to look at it everyday!

At 1366 x 768 that is a good build. However you might want to look at a slightly less powerful CPU and a better graphics card. A well balanced gaming computer should have a video card twice as expensive as the CPU. So maybe look at an i5 3330 or i5 3450 and a GTX 760 or even a GTX 770 if you can fit that in your budget.

I would be fine using that power supply on a system with a GTX 760 or less in it. Anything more powerful and I would step up in quality. In fact for 8 more pounds this is a better unit although not modular. It would be fine for a GTX 770.

Well as for the case I think I'll choose Bitfenix as I love the looks, it's features and slightly lower price. As far as the balanced build, man are you crazy !? That i5 is just ten pounds cheaper, and the graphics card will make it 750£ + ! That's like 900 euros, there's absolutely no way I have money for that, 600 is already pushing it. The only option would be i3 3220 + gtx 660, but I'm afraid that means bottleneck, although it would most likely have superior performance due to the much powerful gpu, but I want a quad core to play games battlefield 3 multiplayer, gta iv, and also for upcoming games that will probably benefit a lot from a quad core.

I do play games a lot but I don't mind reducing to 720p and for that resolution I don't think gtx 650 ti will have any trouble honestly, and even if it does somehow I just need to turn the settings down a bit right?
