Hi guys,
I have/had a Corsair CX600M PSU and last week one of it’s capacitors exploded. I only noticed it because it has shut the whole electric circuit in that part of the house.(atleast i guess it was the PSU) We tried to restart the circuit bit we couldnt (tried severel times restarted for a half second then shut again. Then indecided to cut the power from the PSU to keep it safe. Then we replaced the fuse in electricity box then we got the electricity back, but when i turned back the PSU it shut it immediatly. Then i noticed a strange burny smell coming from the PSU (i noticed the smell earlier when i turned it off but it wasnt só strong). I took it out of the PC and i saw the capcitor blown up. What could have caused this? Sorry for the long story i just thought i should share the whole. Sorry if i didnt write something good im not a native speaker.

Seen the same thing happen to a CX600, the poor capacitors used in those it's one of the reasons why most recommended avoiding them. Be happy it lasted that long I used a few in builds when they first came out and looked like good budget PSUs 4 out of 5 failed in their first year. If it has been less than 3 years since you bought it contact Corsair and get it replaced as they had a 3yr warranty.

There isn't really any "cause" to this other than the capacitor itself being low quality and/or defective. A CX600M isn't a very good PSU and uses lower cost, lower quality components. All capacitor age (with rate of aging being dependent on how much power your PSU is providing and how hot it's getting), but cheap capacitors will age/fail faster.

Where are you located? And what are the systems specs? We might be able to assist in finding a better quality replacement.
Hopefully just the psu is dead, while it is rare for a CX to take out hardware it is not unheard of. In fact another moderator on this site had one take out a motherboard when his CX failed.

You'll need to create an account on their site then either call or email tech support. Once you have contacted them they will run you through the RMA steps if it's still under warranty. It's been awhile but their support was pretty good last time i used it.
