Hello,

i intend to buy a PSU tomorrow for such potential build that i can also use on a older core2duo board for a month or so before switching over,
i like corsairs but the gs600 does not seem to have a splitting 8pin connector so i wouldn't be able to install it on this board using just 4 pins,
the CX600M modular looks nice and also seems to have this compatibility
it is rated 46A on the 12v rail which seems plenty enough but we need to remember that the 8350 is a power hungry bastard so i'm slightly worried about this...
Now - that build is theoretical - there's a big chance i would end up with a more sensible gtx670 since it's almost as good (sorry red team - been on your side, came back to green) and maaayyybe even a fx-6300 altho the 8 core is cheap enough not to pass - still would like to know if it will be sufficient,
there wouldn't be much else going on in the pc but 1 hard drive and maybe a ssd thrown in later, external soundblaster x-fi pro soundcard and a 75hz 1080p monitor, i would probably do some light overclocking (if i find it necessary for gaming which i doubt)

A quality 600W psu will do for the 680 GTX/670 GTX plus the FX-8350/FX-6300.
I recommend getting the 670 gtx, it has about the same performance as the 680 gtx and it's way cheaper, also i recommend getting an i5 ivybridge cpu if possible.
Now the CX is decent, but i can find better units for that range, like the xfx, seasonic or rosewill capstone psus.

here in latvia i can't find how to acquire a xfx or rosewill, atleast not without a serious hassle and a similarly powered seasonic would be atleast extra $30... so corsair it'll be

i just realised i could use some 8 pin to 4 pin transfer cable so i could use any psu - that makes me want to do a further check before i make a choice, gs600 v2 looks like a candidate or maybe even a cx750m or tx650... but that goes well into seasonic pricerange, stuff to think about

however i can't seem to find such a wire in any of the e-stores around me but according to the mighty google image search they do exist... would a molex to 4pin atx be safe to use?
also there's one 4 pin to 4pin extender cable available - would it plug into the 8pin fine? it looks like it should...

what do you guys think of the ZALMAN ZM600-GT?
hardware secrets has a very nice review of it... haven't looked elsehwhere yet,
it costs abotu the same as a gs600 here and has a nice zalman heatpipe in it and
as far as i understand pulls actual 600w with ease and stays real silent while at it....
only is acutally made by FSP but that's not really an issue in my eyes,
hell - i've been running a gtx560 on a 4-5 year old grey 400w fsp psu with no problems in the past,
anyone knows how the internal component quality compares to the corsair new products?

but if anyone has any ideas let me just throw in the FSP Raider series in the mix
here the 700W right now costs a bit less than the regular cx600 / 750w raider somwhere between the cx600m and gs600 /
the Aurum series cost about the same as equivalent corsair TX models...
any thoughts?

ok so after alot of review reading i excluded the fsp's - they are very power efficient but have highish noise and ripple and that's exactly what i'm trying to avoid here, and the zalman doesn't have a single 12v rail which shouldnt be a problem but i guess ill pass... back to corsair

Just ordered the CX600M.

was thinking about the GS but this has modular cables, and internet is full with noisy fan issues on the gs - that's just what happens when good companies start going for design over functionality.

The CX600M is decent, you'r fine with it, i would take the corsair over the zalman one, zalman has some good psus made by fsp, but it's not from that model.
The fsp aurum is a also a good line of psus, i don't think they have the ripple and noise levels above specs.
