corsair h100i v2

Hello, I just bought a corsair h100i v2 aio cooler, I am trying to install it on an am3+ board, I assume the water block is suppose to be touching the cpu, but when I screw the screws on and place the water block on there is half an inch between the block and the cpu, are those screws suppose to behind the motherboard or on the top? The installation guide that comes with the cooler isn't very helpful

It probably requires a newer mounting bracket for AM4, you will want to contact Corsair.

Why is that relevant - clearly says trying to install on an AM3+ mobo.

I have the mounting bracket, and it's an am3+ not am4

never installed one on amd board

but think its just a case of

pump/block sits on the cpu

mounting bracket goes over top of pump/block

you put the little hooks//latches into the thumbscrews

by putting the hook bit through the hole in the mounting bracket and screwing it into the thumbscrew

hook/latch them onto the lugs on the cpu surround and tighten the thumb screws


that probably sounds more complicated than it actually is

but dont think you even need to use a backplate with amd think the amd one on there already works

if i got any of that wrong sure some one will soon tell me

just to clarify that

the hooks/latches are rectangular shape with a threaded shaft

the thumbscrews have no shaft they have a threaded hole

you put the hook/latch shaft through the mounting bracket from the bottom and screw the female thumbscrew on the top

so you end up with the hook/latch at the bottom so it can hook/latch onto the lugs surrounding the cpu socket

like i said never fitted one on amd

but since the amd mounting stuff was in the box any way i vaguely remember having a look at it to see how it worked compared to the intel mounting

so if i got anything wrong i apologise in advance
