Hi people need some help. I put my fan from the cooler onto cpu fan on motherboard so I can control fan speed from smart fan. What I'm not sure is the pump. I have put that onto cpu_opt. Will using this give power to the pump or do I need to put it somewhere else. My mother board is a gigabyte z170 gaming 7. Any help would be good.

Solution
Cpu_fan and cpu_opt are generally the same thing as far as control in the bios goes, but unless you make the cpu_fan header to DC mode, you'll be fine since the 3pin will be 12v constant from a pwm setting.

It'll only be an issue if the cpu_fan is dc as that'll change the voltage to both, which then affects the pump.
