Hi I plan on buying the corsair h80 very soon(about a week or so) and right now Im using the rosewill challenger case. The case is somewhat small and I was wondering if there is anyone who can confirm that it will fit in this case. I am also using the Asrock z77 extreme4 motherboard. Thanks for helping.

is that a picture of the H80 in the specified case?

I found that clearance problems can occur because the radiator exceeds the size of the fan. take a good look at how big the radiator is in conjunction with the the fan. 3/4 ( guessing by sight ) of an inch on each end can mean the difference between fitting and not fitting.

The impression of the actual scale of the radiator is caused by the perspective generated by the angle from where it was taken the picture. The thickness (if you will), of the radiator is 38mm that's roughly 4cms or 1.58in, so when you look at the picture automatically stands out from the frame of the case.

Since it's a mid tower case equiped with high end components, we already know it's going to be a tight fit almost for every item.

According to the manufacturer's specifications: http://www.corsair.com/us/cpu-cooling-kits/hydro-series-water-cooling-cpu-cooler/hydro-series-h80i-high-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler.html , the radiator is bigger than the fan but the actual heat dissipation panel (grill) is the same size, otherwise it wouldn't have sense.

Also, the height of the radiator (grill+water reservoir) is 152mm - that's the number that could worry anyone; but a closer look on the pictures and specs, it turns out that the grill (the one that really matters), is 120x120mm. If the results aren't good enough for a rear installation, the case manufacturer specs points out that the top fan mesh can be used to attach a 140mm fan or a 120mm, so a top configuration could be an option.

Absolutely not, what I'm trying to tell you is that it will fit perfect, I'll make my point clearer:

The measures of the H80i are: 120mm (width) 152mm (height) and 38mm (thickness); the additional 32mm of the total height comes from the water bay and it's oriented to the longitudinal axis of the radiator and the case, ergo, when installed it won't be bigger than the rear fan mesh because its widths are equal; and as I said in my earlier post, the heat dissipation panel is 120x120mm, so the height of the panel is the same than the mesh, and that means that the panel fits perfectly on the mesh, and of course, the water bay of the radiator will be out of the rear fan mesh area but that doesn't affect performance

Don't you think that if the panel were really bigger than the 120mm mesh the manufacturer would specify it somewhere, and would not bundle a 120mm fan?.

As a side note, I'm building a design/gaming rig using a cooler master storm scout 2 and had the same dilemma, but a quick look at the specs and with some logic, it turns out to be just fine.
