[SOLVED] Corsair ML140mm second fan won't start

I have decided to just use the USB header that the pack came with as I was told that would power both the fan and the RGB. Now after adding the USB header, even though I'm able to change the color of both the fans, the second fan still won't start turning. What gives?

Try swapping around the cables going to the commander unit, so the non spinning fan is connected to the port that works with the other fan. If the same fan still does not spin I would suspect a faulty fan.

The problem is that the hub has a different pin connection and that four pin that the fan has for powering doesn't fit in there.

The top fan is connected to the motherboard so that's why it still works.

Ah it’s only a lightning node/unit and not a commander unit. Ok still do the same test, switch over where each fan is connected to the motherboard. If the same fan still doesn’t work I suspect a faulty fan. If the now the other fan doesn’t work I suspect a fan header problem, the next thing to check is the fan curve setup for that header.

It's ok I'm getting a fan hub.
 
You cannot control each fan with that type of hub, they are seen as 1 fan and all run at the same speed. The only way to ensure you don’t go over 1A is don’t connect too many fans. For example if each fan can take a maximum current of 0.3A then don’t connect more than 3 fans. (0.3x3 = 0.9A).

So then is safe to just connect two fans then? I don't plan on inserting more than that to the hub.

No problem, those fans take up to 0.2A each

Therefore 2 fans will take a maximum of 0.4A.
