My Corsair Obsidian 350D came in today! I did some measurements because I had planned on getting the Bitspower Dual / Single D5 Top Upgrade Kit 150 (http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16077/ex-res-370/Bitspower_Dual_Single_D5_Top_Upgrade_Kit_150_-_Black_BP-D5TOPUK150P-BKBKCL.html?tl=g30c97s169). Here is a picture of my case with the Power Supply seated, and the GPU where it will be once installed.
Now here is a picture of the same thing, but with the SSD cage and HDD cage removed. (don't laugh)
As you can see, I would need to remove the SSD cage on top, and HDD cage on bottom to fit this thing by about a tad less of an inch of space between the top of the res and the two bays. On Frozencpu, the total instillation height is 10.83 Inch, so this thing would barely fit. I'm currently contacting them to find out more dimensions of the thing.
My question to all of you. Should I remove both the cages, mount the HDD and SSD ontop of the PSU, with Velcro (possibly mount the SSD on the side of the 2 bays up top, or just go with the XSPC Raystorm 240 kit? I really don't want to take the easy way out, since I will be doing this (building pcs, including water cooling rigs) for a living, I would really love to be able to learn how this way. I'm sure I'll need 90 degree fittings and some nice tubing.
What do you guys think? Bad idea to mount an SSD on top of an HDD on top of a PSU? Let me know! Some people may not like the look, but I think if it all ends up fitting nice and tightly, it would look very clean with white braided cables, 2 UV strips, and some UV tubing/coolant. Thank you!
