For the corsair power supply's what do the letters at the end mean? ( VS CX CS RM HXi Ax AXi AX1500i ) im in the corsair website and it tells me that for light to moderate overclocking, can i overclock to some high voltages even on some of the more basic supply's? Is this corsair just tricking me into buying a more expensive PSU?

The letter designations simply refer to the series of PSU's. Each series has a different design, uses different quality and different rated components, and has different build quality.

The VS series are the lower quality PSU's, while the AX series are the best quality PSU's from the range of Corsair PSU's.

A summary of PSU's is here, if not already seen.

For overclocking, it is usually recommended to use a "quality" PSU that has good quality components which should handle increase in PSU loading better than PSU's with lower grade components.

However. A lower quality PSU can be used for overclocking also, provided the maximum load is well below the maximum rating of the PSU. But, because the lower quality PSU would probably use lower grade components, the PSU may not last as long as a similar higher quality PSU that uses higher quality components.

Anything that is under the HX series (VS, CX, CS, and RM) use cheap capacitors for the most part. I would avoid these units.
HX are corsairs enthusiast units, and AX and their digital models HXi and AXi are higher end. Generally these are more than one would want for a general system.
