RM is cheaper because it doesn't use Japanese branded capacitors, they're expensive, otherwise the quality and performance is comparable to RM-x. No, just because it doesn't use Japanese capacitors that doesn't mean that it's a bomb or will fail in a couple of years, Corsair still provides 10 years warranty for it just like for RM-x and their chief engineer, Jon Gerow is quite confident in their capacitors choice. One thing tho, because RM needs to meet high efficiency targets on low load (<2%) it uses a burst mode on PWM controller which might increase coil whine at idle.
