I was just wondering if you had a system with a 850w corsair rmx psu and in the future wanted to upgrade to a 1000w corsair rmx (exact brand and series), would the cabling all be the same thay you could just simply replace the psu and connect the existing cables into the new psu?

You do realize that thousands of ppl have asked that same question, or done a similar psu swap and you just happened to find one of the very, very, very few circumstances where it actually works out.

General consensus is 'New psu = use New cables, do Not mix and match' . And you found the oddball exception.

Bonus is, you have a complete set of spare cables.

Well, it's true for most cases of swapping the different branded PSUs and even most cases of different lineups by the same brand. But Corsair among some other brands maintains several standard pinouts between lineups. Pretty much all modern Corsair PSUs have the same pinout except for 24-pin motherboard cable which is different between Type 3 and 4 but even then the only difference is more v-sense wires in Type 4 which can be omitted and therefore Type 3 motherboard cable can still be plugged in Type 4 PSU.
So yeah, it's an exception for Corsair, but the answer is yes.
