Hello !

I recently purchased the Corsair TX650M semi-modulair PSU.
After installing the PSU and connecting all the cables I hooked it up to check if it was working, but it didn't! The motherboard lights turn on etc, but upon pressing the power button you only see the fan of the PSU move like 1 inch.
Installed back my old PSU and it worked like a charm.
I then tried booting it without HDD/SSD/DVD-drive and it booted.
Then plugged in my 2 HDD's and it booted up aswell.
I then noticed I used the modulair sata cable for the DVD-drive, and when I did not plug that in, the system boots just fine!
Do you guys have any idea what this might be?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ricardo Veenstra
it is possible that there is a short on this cable. is there another modular cable supplied that you can use instead? or another power connector on the same cable? if it works on a spare and you dont need the extra then great stuff. if it works but you need the extra or the PSU only comes supplied with one cable, i suggest you contact the store that you bought it from and inform them of the cable fault. sometimes an email to the manufacturer's support desk can yield a replacement cable being posted to you at no cost.

Thanks for your reply phate1337,

I bought the PSU second hand from a friend in the Netherlands, so I dont know how this will work with warranty etc.
The hard wired SATA cables have 4 connections, 2 are used for my hard drives, the cable comes in a little bit to short to power the DVD-drive.
There are 2 additional 6pins > sata cables, I have tried them both, but they both refused to work.

can you remove the side panel and the dvd drive and connect it to the other power connectors (i know it is messy, but just for testing ;)) and see how that works. if it is still and issue then i would say your DVD drive has gone down (bad timing!). if it works, then see if you can get another modular cable. some are pretty universal, but some has slightly different shaped connectors or pin layouts so make sure you get one that is compatible.
