Corsair XMS2 or Kingston HyperX

Hi,I am looking for a mid- range RAM.I can't choose between Corsair CM2X2048-6400C5 and Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR2 1066 PC2-8500.Both are priced identical in my nearest dealer.My motherboard is Intel DG31 PR and CPU is Core2Duo E7400.RAMs from other manufacturers are not easily available in my region.Please advise.

Both are great brands and great models from each of the brands.

I would pick the Corsair CM2 however for two reasons:

1. The Corsair runs on lower voltage (1.8v vs. 2.2v)

2. The Kingston is capable of doing higher frequency (1066 Mhz vs. 800 Mhz) but your motherboard's limit is 800Mhz so the other stick would not give you any substantial advantage.

Note: I am assuming that both of these refer to single 1x2gb sticks. If this is not correct, I would have to re-evaluate.

Lower Voltage reduces heat and power consumption

No, the faster memory is NOT harmful, it just doesn't do you any good. You are limited to a certain speed by your motherboard.

My major concern is game loading times and booting time.which of them performs it better?.i know its a tough comparison.i am looking for that slighter edge.

Get the one with the lowest timings.. If both have same timings then just get the cheaper model.. Both the HyperX and the XMS are very good.. You'll restricted by your hard drive more as compared to RAM when comparing game load times..

Corsair model has a latency of 5-5-5-18 and hyperx 5-5-5-15 .But intel suggests a memory voltage of 1.8v for DG31 PR Motherboard.Since hyperx needs 2.2v,can this lead to any issues?

Yes it can. I guess I will just repeat my suggestion, get the Corsair memory. It sounds like it will definitely work according to your motherboard. With the HyperX - it will require less voltage and will be under-clocked, and so you are talking about a lot more work.

Go for Corsair! You'll be happy you did!
