Corsairs theory that higher CAS latency is better

I bought a gig of corsairs 3700 memory, then i looked at the cas latency to see that it was 3-4-4-8. This is higher then the usual latency then i looked at this http://www.corsairmemory.com/main/products/specs/twinx-3700.pdf where corsair is saying that with more bus you have the higher the latency should be for best results. Is this true? or did i buy into a gamble that corsair is taking. I'd like some feedback from people who know what they are talking about, which is why i came here. Is this theory true or should i take it back for low latency ram?

they say best results...because they are too cheep to buy memory chips that nativly support those speeds so they force the memory to use $hit timmings so that it will run at quick MHz speeds...if it were not running those timmings and lets say 2-3-3-5 it would not run at pc3700 speeds. Thus IMO this is just overclocked pc3500

There is no smell better than fried silicon

Well, the faster the memory goes, the less of an impact timings have. Timings were a big factor while back in the days but now the backside bus is going so fast there isn't much of a difference between high and low timings. If there is a difference, it would only be noticible in synthetic benchmarks (1-3%).

When they say "best results" maybe they don't mean best performance, but a more stable system. Higher clocked memory sticks usualy have worse timings and so unless you are into OCing there really is no reason to take DDR. sticks clocked higher than 400 (pc3200) because you only get worse timings with no performance increase due to the higher frequency

Coppermine, Banias, Opteron, Prescott, Barton... How 'bout investing less in the CPU and more in its name?

So do you think i should take back this RAM for the 3200LL or will it not be a noticable enough difference to worry about?

You can probably run this ram at 2-3-3-5 at 400mhz, the only thing is that you paid for the 3700...So if you wich to use it at 3200, you may change it and get some money back...

Actually they both cost the exact same, so should i just run it at 400mhz and 2-3-3-5? Will that work with no problems?
