I have a 5400 rpm laptop hard drive that I took out of a laptop that died because it had a cup of coffee spilled on it about a year ago. I put the hard drive in a patriot gauntlet 2 and all of the data was still there, It still could read and write data fine. Although I will say I haven't tested it extensively; I just transferred the data over to my desktop and rarely used it after that. Fast forward to this year I am building a new gaming PC and I am thinking about using this hard drive in the build. Is it possible that the hard drive was slightly damaged, could die soon, and possibly take out other components with it? I am not worried about losing data, I have most of my stuff backed up on several externals. I'm just afraid because the laptop it was originally in died maybe the hard drive could die soon too and possibly take out a brand new part in my new build with it.
