Could insulation tape on my sound card be the cause of buzzing cracking sound?

Buzzing/cracking sound was coming out of my speakers. I tried new audio cables from the speakers to the amplifier. Then I tried new optical audio cable from the sound card to the amplifier. Then I tried new speakers. Everything produced a buzzing sound. Then I tried to connect headphones directly to the computer's front jack. Still buzzing sound.
The only time buzzing sound disappeared, was when sound came out through the monitor (Its connected through an HDMI cable to the mother board. The monitor has integrated speakers).
Then I remember that my new main board does not have enough space between the GPU and the sound card. So I decided to use insulation tape on top of the sound card an on the bottom of the GPU to avoid contact between both. Could that be the cause of the buzz?
The sound is not permanent, it comes and goes.

Solution
If you have not already, uninstall and then reinstall the sound card drivers. go online at creative to get the latest ones. your sound card is magnetically shielded. The video card should not affect it.

Other things you can try. Use the speakers again, but disable sound through the monitor. Also if your monitor has display port, use that instead of hdmi.

If I understand you correctly, you have a speaker setup that has optical sound input? Fiber optics can not be kinked. Gentle curves only. Just saying.

you can find the latest software on this page...
