I interpreted the question as "could someone have remotely updated my BIOS without me knowing?"the OP already bricked the bios. can't boot
Or:I interpreted the question as "could someone have remotely updated my BIOS without me knowing?"
I have a Lenovo laptop that does this.I would not say no anymore. I have a dell that gets bios updates via windows update.
I don't want to update but flash via ch341a because I have a brickI wouldn't completely say "No". ASUS has a utility you can use to stage a BIOS update through Windows (https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1008276/) and Gigabyte has a similar utility called @ BIOS that, as far as I can tell with socket AM4 (I don't feel like looking at other platforms), it's still available.
So conceivably someone can with remote tools stage a BIOS update. But the computer still has to restart, which if that happens the remote connection gets lost so I don't know how useful that'll be for a malicious actor.
That would require a ch341a type device that can be operated remotely.I don't want to update but flash via ch341a because I have a brick
i has ch341aThat would require a ch341a type device that can be operated remotely.
It's the "can be operated remotely" part that you're missing.i has ch341a
I can but... I think you should do it by yourself.. I used CH341A to program And fix Motherboards, Code Arduino, STM32F103, and ESP8266 a lot of times... It's very handy thing to have.. and you can flash Bios easily with it..Hello
