Could this build work out

Hello everyone,

I'm currently helping a friend building a new computer. This is the build we currently have and we were wondering if it all fits and sits. The point was making a gaming pc that can be OC a bit.

I'm not sure about the HDD. I heard that seagate is pretty good too for HDD.
PSU gives enough Watt?
Any other thought about this build are always welcome.

Hello

Very nice build, but I would changes some parts :
- You need a K CPU for OC
- The mobo, take an Z97 one, to avoid all BIOS upgrade issues, for OC obviously
- The cooler, there are some better ones

The HDD is good, Seagate is a bit reliable than WD, but both of them are good 😉
The PSU is sufficient without OC, the build won't consume more than 350W at max load

Now I was wondering. My friend only wants to OC GPU for gaming purposes, do I really need the K CPU and Z97 for that?

In this situation, you don't need it, get an H97 so

There are some H81, B85, H87 and Z87 mobos which still have an old BIOS, this last don't support the latests Haswell Refresh CPUs (i3 4150/i3 4160/i3 4350/i3 4370/i5 4460/i5 4590/i5 4690/i7 4790)

While the above is true is the bios from which you have support for the i5 4590 on that "Sniper" motherboard from "2014/01/24" so by now,with a new motherboard,should you be able to expect it to be on there.
You could check with the vendor and let him make sure it's on there.

I contacted them and they said the BIOS in not up to date. But I was thinking, I could update it myself can't I?

For that, you need an Haswell CPU (i5 4430/4440/4570/4670) if you put your i5 4590, the PC won't boot at all

But as I said, you need an Haswell 2013 CPU, not an Haswell Refresh 2014

Probably not. So to recap all the MB with a Z/H/8x are not compatible for this CPU?

They are,but it depends on the bios that is on them.
The vendor is sure it's such an old motherboard=>bios? Maybe he can update it?
