Could you please explain these 4 settings of a multimeter?

Here's a picture of my multimeter:

Could you please explain what the settings marked 1 thru 4 do?

I know 'V' measures potential difference, 'A' measures current, and ohms measure resistance, but I'm not an electrical engineer and have no idea what these other settings measure or how to use them..

2 signal test
3 diode and audible continuity
4 transistor socket
