Can you try the Optical Drive with different SATA cables and port, to see if the same thing happens. It would be even better if you have the option to give it a go with a different computer.
You should also check if there's any available firmware update or driver, which could fix things up, since you've mentioned that the Win 10 upgrade led to this issue.
