CPU and gpu won't go past 50%

both my cpu and gpu won't go past 50% and I'm stuck at 60 fps

specs are:

i7 5930k 4.0 ghz

GTX 980 windforce

16GB corsair vengeance

750w PSU

3TB Seagate hard drive

asus x99 deluxe mobo

That's probably why then. If you are getting 60FPS, you have Vsync on, and your system doesn't need to go above 50% to get you there. So to save power and make things work better, they don't. You have nothing wrong.


It's just as 4745454b said, you most likely have V-sync on, which automatically stops your system from going over 60 fps, and since your system is stopping there, your hardware doesn't need to go passed 50% to get to that 60 fps.

You really don't need to go over 60 fps, unless you have a monitor capable of displaying it, so a 60Hz monitor, won't be able to show you over 60 fps anyways, so there's no point going passed that.

Also, just as a precaution, go into your control panel and check what your power settings are, get there via: Control Panel> Hardware and Sound> Power Options

If it's on balanced, or power saver, it'll automatically limit your system. However, I don't think this is the case, as it sounds like you are running V-sync
