Hi,

i have US$800 and was wondering what is the best CPU and motherboard combo I could get with this price would be.
Setup is mainly for gaming but I also do a lot of photo editing.

thanks in advance :)

Prob look to the 4770K and I'd pair it with an ASRock Z87 Extreme 4, throw in a Hyper 212 EVO heatsink for the 4770K and take whatever's left and add that to whatever you have budgeted for DRAM (fast and 16GB min good for photo work) or to your GPU

Thanks for the info, I already have the other components as follows:

750 watt power cert 80% efficiency
16gb ddr3 ram 4x4gb
HD 7950 wind force 3gb edition

So I have this money to invest in something really good. I don't have to spend it all I am just after good combinations

Thanks

Thanks for the reply - what about the Z87 sabertooth? I've heard some decent things being said about this board;

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-sabertooth-z87-intel-z87-s-1150-ddr3-sata-iii-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-dport-hdmi-atx

would you recommend this with the 4770K?
Also I was thinking of possibly looking at a mini ITX board and CPU combo yo save on space (just an idea at this point) and I have seen the following ASUS Z87I-Pro board;

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-z87i-pro-intel-z87-s-1150-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-bluetooth-dp-hdmi-mini-it

Do you think this would cope with what I need it for?

Thanks in advance.
Thanks

Like the Sabertooth, have a couple builds on it (and hint, hint....it's not limited to 1866 DRAM as advertised, same as was with the Z77 Sabertooths, built a few ot those), anyway Yes very good mobos, on the mini' I'm not a good one for that, I don't build to many of them, I prefer the regular ATX, because people NEVER know how much they will want to expand,,,the micros and mini ATX are good for special purpose, but in general I like the full ATX
