Hi, I bought a Lenovo pre build. Legion T5 26AMR5.
The CPU has this backplate on it. Stuck on with tape.
I was wondering what kind it was as I can't figure it out searching Google.
The PC has a Ryzen 7 CPU. The screw holes are to small for my AMD cooler.

So I searched for intel coolers and kinda saw something that looks like it but its a AMD motherboard a CPU.
Anyone know what this is? Any info would be helpful thanks.

For some odd reason the spacing between the screws remind me of the LGA 115x platform...and by that I think Lenovo introduced that onto a RyZen platform/motherboard to make it proprietary to prevent end users from tampering with the cooling assembly.

You sure it's not an Intel i7 equipped Lenovo...?

Could probably adapt something like a Deepcool Gammaxx 400 or Hyper Evo 212 on there relatively easily. If there is enough height. Just need some M3 screws of the appropriate length and some washers. Or threaded rod and nuts.

It is not uncommon for large productions to use off standard coolers. I say off standard, like for instance using an Intel spacing spec for an order of AMD "promontories"...so that they can utilize the warehouse full of Intel fans they already have on hand. One of my friends HP is this exact way. It's a Ryzen 1xxx but is using a fan that has everything but the Intel sticker on the hub.

The Hyper 212 has a wonderfully adaptable mount setup and will likely be able to "engineer" into something that will work.

My temperatures for my i7-870 were really high and I'd often crash in games. I got an aftermarket cooler (GAMMAXX 400) with LGA 1156 brackets and it would never go into the backplate. It was like your issue on how the holes were too small. It obviously wasn't the best idea but I removed the backplate and then it'd finally fit into the holes (I was tired and wanted to get it over with). Keep in mind, this was a tower cooler - really large. I've had it in for the past three months and it's never fallen out or come out of it's hinges. Considering your AMD cooler isn't a tower cooler, it should be even safer. Again, this should only be your last resort because I don't want to be responsible for any issues you may come across.
