CPU bottom discoloration and breathing on it

My cpu has a slight discoloration in some areas at the bottom and I saw some dust on the bottom which I thought I would blow away with my mouth and i saw the moisture evaporate from the cpu. 1 is this discoloration normal? 2 did/can my breath destroy the cpu? 3 how should i go about cleaning the bottom of my cpu from dust?

Don't take it personally husky. Everyone is just trying to be a comedian and it's just not translating well.

Probably no danger. Though I would let it air out a few minutes before reassembling, just in case a few droplets of saliva came along for the ride. Your not the first person to use the human air compressor.

That is called a "heat spreader". The cpu is underneath it. Just leave it alone. Your breath destroy a cpu? Not unless you are Godzilla. You are kidding correct?:lol:

Im really paranoid about breaking my parts. I dunno what breaks them anymore 😀 I wasnt talking about the heat spreader, i was talking about the bottom with the gold pads. Can you give answers for the bottom of the cpu?

If you don't know about the gold pads just leave it be as I said. There is no reason to play with your cpu like a toy.

how in the hell did you manage to get dust there?? if it's an AMD then it's shrouded by the socket, if it's an Intel then it's shrouded by the metal clamp (well, most modern ones).

if you're ungodly desperate, you could try some isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol), and a Q-tip or even your finger. a quick way to eliminate most static in the air is to have the air somewhat moist, like steam from a hot shower.

but as long as you're not seeing black burnt spots or rainbows on the electrical contacts, it's best to leave it alone. and find some old CPU to play around with.

Alright thanks guys. I'm just reaaally paranoid. The CPU got dust on it just by sitting in the plastic wrapping it came in. No clamp, no black foamy material to secure it on, nothing. I'm going to use some canned air to blow the dust off, good idea?

good. at least those are made of proper materials. compressed air would be fine. if you're REALLY anal (and careful), a q-tip with alcohol can clean off smudges. but do it on a humid day - the moisture in the air dissipates / eliminates static. just extra insurance.

What would you have done if you saw dust on your cpu? Blown on it right? Well, it still isn't in my pc so its ok 😀

If I'm really hungry 😀 Why wouldn't you blow the dust away? It's basically air as far as I know. please tell me otherwise as I'm a complete dumbnut regarding this topic.

Do you think blowing air out of your mouth is clean? It is filled with moisture, contaminants etc....

@bmacsys Alright alright. Enough of this calling me stupid trend. Can you please tell me the harm in blowing on a CPU bottom (gold pads side) as I'm genuinely unaware of any damage I could do by doing this. Thanks.

Thanks for the proper answer. I think the human air compressor (TM) is much more eco-friendly so I have used that very often although sometimes you have to say "Screw the environment, I want this dust off my CPU" and I got hold of some industrially canned air. I haven't put my CPU back into my build yet because I still don't have my M/B which needs to be collected from the post office. If you look at my previous posts, you can see that I had problems with my M/B so I hope this one I just got doesn't act as weird as the cheap-grade Gigabyte one I had before. Thanks for the input guys and thanks FALC0N for a clear answer. Take care everyone ^^
