Cpu cache difference

Hello guys...Can any1 tell what the difference between l2 cache 12mb,l2 cache 6mb and l2 cache 4mb?

I am not that good at this staff so any help would be rly helpfull

Cache is the CPUs internal storage. (To say).

L1 cache is the smallest and fastest cache (placed closer to the core itself), the L2 is the inbetweener and the L3 is the largest and the slowest cache.

12mb and 6mb is the size of the cache.

basically, cache is sort of the amount of memory that is avalaible on the cpu itself, the cpu will first scan this before executing any processes, then it'll look at the ram and then the hard drives/ ssd....the difference between l1 cache, l2 and l3 cache is both the speed and storage space...l1 is the smallest/ fastest, l2 is bigger than l1/ slower than l1, and l3 is the biggest and slowest. The amount of these will determine on how the cpu will fare on processes it hasnt seen before...after some times, executing the same process (say launching a game) will be stored in either of these caches (depending on the frequency of use, size of execution etc) and the cpu will be able to carry out the task faster

the more cache, the faster the processor overall since it can store more stuff...

the size does matter, since bigger caches allow more storage so faster access to more programs

Cache should not be a deciding point between CPUs for you. You shouldn't even be looking at the specs, the numbers are meaningless, good setup of a small cache will do better than a poorly setup large cache. Look at benchmarks not specs, especially when comparing between product lines!

but honestly, for the desktop user, unless its a really low end cpu...cache should not be an issue......you might experience a bit of a bump in performance but looking at benchmarks rather than cache will be much more valuable...yea Hunter315 is right
