Hello all
Just looking into getting a pre built gaming pc with a GPU and I've noticed PC's seem to use a CPU with no integrated graphics ( not sure with AMD but Intel use the F suffix ) is this a bad idea and am I best looking for one with integrated graphics just incase the GPU packs up at least I then have the option of choosing. ALSO I've read iffy things about 13th and 14th gen intel CPUs is this really an issue and to avoid them and get a 12th gen or is this just media overreaction.

I tend to go for processors with an iGPU since that part comes in very very handy when troubleshooting display related issues(especially discrete GPU related issues).

No, you might want to bring yourself up to speed with the processor degradation and firmware issue for both 13th and 14th Gen Intel processors.

^ to list one out of many you can find off of YT, not just one channel/reporting.

Just an FYI, you can't really have a question without a question mark. Without which it's just a sentence...just saying.

The extra $30 or so for integrated graphics is a nit in the total price of a pc.
You also the Quick sync feature:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000029338/graphics.html

It once saved me from a psu failure.
I had a backup psu that was not strong enough for my discrete graphics card so I used integrated graphics.
It did really well, even for some slow action games.

As to the 13/14th gen issues, the video above is a year old.
Here is the official Intel statement that is relatively current. 9/2025:
https://community.intel.com/t5/Mobi...en-Desktop-Instability-Root-Cause/m-p/1633442
And the very latest microcode update 5/1/2025:
https://community.intel.com/t5/Mobi...-Vmin-Shift-Instabilty-Update-New/m-p/1686948

If you buy 13/14th gen processors from an authorized seller you are covered with an extended warranty.
I would not buy used because they could be damaged.

thanks for all the help , It basically confirms my own thoughts.
As for the how to ask link, I understand what you mean but its a little overkill when I'm only asking for basic overviews about things,

To give a good answer, it is best to know the full situation.
Budget, main uses, current system for context.
I often find that the question asked is not the one that really should have been asked.
