I've heard that the CPU connector can only fit in one way, I just wanted to know how to tell which way to insert it.
E.g the writing on the cable has to be facing north or something.

If it helps I am using the Asus Z97 Maximus Ranger and the AX 860 Corsair power supply.

Thanks.

dont worry cpu 4+4pin power like the 6 /6+2 pcie power connectors as seen here http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm can only be connected one way. also there is a clip as you can see that ensures it will firmly connect
CPU connector? The CPU itself will only go in the socket 1 way (there is a arrow or marking to align up) CPU heatsink wants to be mounted so the air flow is directed to the rear of the case. As for power connecters they all have molded guide plugs/sockets so they can only be inserted 1 way, the only exception is you can plug a 3 pin (fan) plug into a 4 pin socket on the motherboard. Hope that helps.
