CPU Cooler Compatibility

So when building my PC I found that my CPU cooler is a bit too big for the mobo and the case - it blocks one of the RAM slots and prevents me from closing the case. I didn't research the dimensions enough when ordering everything - I won't be making that mistake again.

Could I possibly use the CPU cooler from my old motherboard? The CPU it was used for was somewhat similar in power, but it was an AMD instead of my current Intel. Where and how can I check compatibility without going in there and trying it?

If this works out, how successful could I be trying to get a refund for the cooler? I have everything it came with but only found the problem when installing it, thermal paste and all.

New cooler is a CRYORIG H7, and the older one is a Cooler Master CM12V.

What I mean is that the CPU cooler physically blocks a RAM port from being used - I have two RAM ports but can only use one of them at the moment.

Yeah, I'll re-orient and see if I can install the RAM sticks and close the case afterward

The case is a Rosewill SRM-01
I re-oriented the cooler (the right way now since it was pointed downwards before). I can now install both RAM sticks, but the case (the door for hard drives specifically) still can't close.

so that begs the second part of my question - Could I possibly use the CPU cooler from my old motherboard? The CPU it was used for was somewhat similar in power, but it was an AMD instead of my current Intel. Where and how can I check compatibility without going in there and trying it?

There's pretty much no clearance for even a smaller RAM stick
