Hi guys,

I new some advice on a new CPU cooler for my PC. I have checked the list on TH on recommended budget coolers: https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...the-hyper-212-evo-for-budget-cooling.2119530/, however they all scare me stupid for 1. no idea what would be the best in my price point, $30-$40 USD and 2. I do not want to damage my motherboard(<---scares me the most atm.)

The reason for this if because the I7 is slowly, but steadily overwhelming the stock intel cooler i have now.

Could anyone recommend/ give there experiences with with Am coolers??

Intel i7 4790 3.6
HyperX 16GB stick
EVGA Geforce 960 SSC
EVGA 500w PS
GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H (REV 3.0)
Seagate 1TB 7200

I would recommend the hyper 212 Evo black edition, its amazing i have been using it with my Cpu since beginning its around 31$ and amazing performance but u also need thermal paste.
you could go for an AIO cooler but that depends on your case.

As CountMike says, no cooler should scare you.

You don't need anything fancy, almost any aftermarket cooler upgrade will be an improvement on the old intel stock coolers.

A Hyper 212 Evo or a Deepcool Gammaxx 400 would be perfectly suitable and great value budget replacements for example.

i have a push pull config on the hyper 212x and i dont see temps getting abpve 55-60 in games and only around 65 in stress tests. have overclocked to 4.8ghz before but temps get a little bit silly so my recommendation is for stock and 4.6ghz this is a great option but for higher overclockes you might need to spend a bit more.

Thank you for all the reply's gentlemen/lady's, I said it scares me because i can only upgrade once in a blue moon (if im lucky), and because(depending on the cooler of choice) thats a lot of weight to be hanging off of your MB! the Gammex 400 weights nearly 2lbs, (<-------why it scares me)
