Hey guys yesterday i started a thread about what cpu cooler i should buy for mine i7 3770, and i made up my mind with a XIGMATEK Dark Knight SD1283 Night Hawk edition at 55 dollars, and i would buy another fan to add to the cooler and buy MX4 thermal paste. But now i thought, if i was going to spend 90 dollars on the cooler+fan+thermal paste, why not buy a better cpu cooler?
So now im trying to find a good cpu cooler max 105 dollars. I was thinking in this options :
THERMALRIGHT TRUE SPIRIT 140 BW
XIGMATEK AEGIR
THERMALTAKE FRIO
THERMALTAKE COOLER CPU FRIO SNOW OCK
NZXT HAVIK 140MM CPU COOLER
COOLERMASTER V8

Its in order from cheapest to the most expensive, coolermaster V8 costing 95 dollars so you have an idea,
I know probably these coolers can be overkill for my cpu but i want to run very good temperatures cause i care about lifespan, and i also want a somehow silent cpu cooler, but if its a little loud at load no problem. So if you guys have any other options tell me please, and if you also think that the dark knight idea was good tell me :)
Thanks for reading.

I think you summed them up nicely. With most of the top-end air coolers, you have to choose between noise and performance, and that's without getting into any other feature or aspect, like size, price, install, etc. The Frio OCK normally does very well for performance.
Yes i know that the NOCTUAS are very good, but i found out in some reviews that HAVIk 140 get better temps? If not i will get the noctua DH-14 as my local store doesnt have the DH-15. There are just so many coolers haha, by the way, if i get the noctua DH-14 or DH-15 do i need to buy a better thermal paste like MX4 or AS5, or the thermal paste from noctua is already good? And the cooler would fit in an Asrock z77 extreme4 without prob? Thanks

EDIT: Forgot to say that i dont like the noctua D14 design a lot, but if if its the best of course ill get it, but do you think i can get any cooler similar to the coolermaster V8 or thermaltake frio snow ock design with the performance of noctua or almost nothing worst?

For the thermal paste, the performance spread between the MX4, AS5, IC7, NT-H1, etc, is about 1C. I use both IC7 and NT-H1.

As far as performance goes, you can find coolers that are as quiet as the Noctuas, and coolers that can cool as well them (or almost as well), or are smaller, or are as easy to mount, but if there's a cooler that can beat the Noctuas in more than two of those categories I haven't seen it.

There are plenty to choose from however, and it's a relatively simple matter to list your priorities (price, noise level, size, performance, etc) and find a cooler that's a best match. The Havik is certainly a good cooler based on the tech reviews I've read, but I haven't seen any that show it beating the DH-14 in noise levels or performance. If you've found one, I'd certainly be interested in reading it.

I was thinking in buying MX4 if i buy the havik cause their thermal past is worst than noctuas right? Im going more towards the havic 140 but its only 10 dollars cheaper so i dont know if its worth over noctua. Still i hate that noctua design and color haha. http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4127/nzxt_havik_140_cpu_cooler_review/index6.html , here is the review, the noctua beats in idle and loses by 2C in load.

Ill check some havik and noctua reviews, should i also check the THERMALTAKE COOLER CPU FRIO SNOW OCK, or its worst than both?
Thanks.

That is interesting - I'll have to take a look at how they're testing vs other tech reviews. It's your call - I think you'll be happy either way. I can't speak to the NZXT thermal paste.

OK, probably ill get MX4 thermal paste just in case. I was also loking at the Thermaltake FRIO and FRIO ock and they seem very good too, but they are very noisy, can you give me opinion on these two coolers?

Im only ordering tomorrow so i have time yet, but im confused between Frio OCK or Havik 140. Noctua is very good and quiet, but its to big and ugly in my opinion, and probably i was going to have some problem with the ram right?
I want a smaller cooler with a nice design, like CoolerMaster V8 or Frio OCK, tho i saw some reviews that the V8 is worst in performance than 212+! wich is half the price, is this possible?
Between the frio OCK and the havik 140 what do you think its the best bang for my buck? Both same price (havik 5 more dollars but thats nothing).
Thanks for being helpfull

Between the Havik and the Frio, I'd go with the Havik with two fans. The Hyper 212+ and EVO are very good coolers, especially considering their prices. Their cooling performance tops out at a lower threshold though, which is why they're not really considered "high-end" air coolers. I've got one cooling an i5-4670k and it works great up to about 4.0-4.1 GHz - after that it just can't hang.

Your chip's specific temperature curve will also have an affect. If you've got a golden chip, you can OC with a stock cooler; if you've got a silicon lottery loser, you might not be able to exceed the stock turbo speed with an H110i strapped to it.

I was going for the EVO before the dark knight, but i wanted lower temperatures and a cooler with two fans. And adding a second fan to the EVO will only decrease temps in 1~2C.
I think im going with the NZXT Havik 140 :) but ill see other options. The xigmatek aegir with 2 fanks is good?
I know, but as i have non k cpu, i wont overclock, ill try to push it to 4.3GHz. I think i can do it in Z mobos, push 400mhz higher than turbo boost, wich is 3.9GHz. If it gets hot ill just let it stock with low temperatures haha :)
