CPU Cooler pre applied thermal paste

Hello!

I am going to upgrade my CPU. I have a CPU cooler that has pre-applied thermal paste.
Will i need to apply new thermal paste when upgrading my CPU or will the pre-applied one still last?

If its been used, when you take the cooler off and swap the CPU, you need to fully clean and reapply new thermal paste.
You can't reuse what was on there.
