This is an example of what my CPU (4770k) looked like when i installed it in my Motherboard carefully (asus maximus vii hero). I put it in, made sure the notches on the side that indicate if it's set perfectly were lined up, then proceeded to close the latch.

I noticed that I needed a bit of force when installing. Videos online said it was totally normal so I again proceeded to make sure it was lined up, and closed it.

After checking it, it had dents on both the left and right side just like the picture i used above. Is this normal?

the little gold triangle or arrow on the bottom left should match a similar symbol on the board or 1.
Did you take off the black plastic cover that covers the motherboard socket? Most manufacturers put that on there to prevent damage to the pins on the motherboard's cpu socket.

It does take a bit of pressure to latch the metal arm to secure the CPU in the socket; More than what one would think, when in this world, gentle is often necessary and screamed.

then you should be okay; Like one poster above said, we can't tell anything by the pic that you posted. Just power her up and let her rip. If it is damaged, it most likely won't work at all; It won't blow up or anything. If it doesn't boot-up, and doesn't let you get into the BIOS or EUFI (which is newest name for BIOS with added functions), then remove processor (CPU) and remove thermal paste and reapply and reintall. If that dosen't work, then "Houston, we have a problem"

it's really a matter of choice. If you really feel it will cause problems in the future, go ahead and use your warranty and get a replacement. If you test it and it works, I would honestly just say * it and use it
