Cpu facing direction

Is it possible to put the cpu wrong side up and it still work fine? Not upside down mind you but as in normally my 7700k sits with the writing facing right side up. I just realized I forgot to double check that its facing like that. But everything booted up and is running fine.

You can only put the CPU in the proper orientation.

If everything is working fine means you installed our CPU the correct way, otherwise your PC would not accomplish a boot or start briefly and shutdown and motherboard and CPU would definitely incur some serious damage, moreover intel CPUs have installation side notches that would require to be congruent to motherboard socket pins in order for the CPU to sit flush in it.

So are the pins on the mobo angled so that I would have realized probably that something was off when locking the cpu in place?

The little notches at the top mean that it can go in only one way. If you had it different, it would absolutely not boot up. And if it were in differently and you forced the CPU cooler down...something would likely break.
