bought a new cpu, 8350 fx amd and stock fan but the fan is running high, temp never goes over 40 unless im running scans or playing games just high rpm IMO. I know i can buy i new fan may solve the problem and such but wondering if theres a cheaper solution, when i slow the fan does seems to heat up a bit so maybe the stock fan needs more thermal paste?

first of all: what is your motherboard brand? why im asking that? because you need to get into the bios and change your fan speeds in idle temperatures making a custom fan curve, so try to search a youtube tutorial, if you dont find one, show me pics ill help you. please use hwmonitor or hwinfo64 and send some pictures of temperatures and voltage, dont worry too much about cpu fan speeds, they are build to last long enough to outlive the processor, but if you can, try to get a cheap aftermarket cooler like the hyper evo 212 (only if custom fan profile doesnt work), if you are short on money right know you could use some kind of oil tthat are use to lub the fans, clean the dust on them and try changing thermal paste, try to plug again the cpu fan cables. idle recommended temps: 30 full load gaming: 65-70. ( i always use 100% of my cpu fans, i prefer to change the stock cooler than the processor itself)

The fan isn't capable of doing 5000 rpm's.

bios is updated for this specific cpu, did fine with the stock fan from the 6350
mmm then im lost here, try to change the custom fan profile in the bios and reconnect the cpu cooler cables, if you are too worried about the cpu fan getting damage, keep it lub and clean of dust, i have one intel stock cooler that last for 3 years with 100% fan speed.

oh and i remember seeing this 5000 rpm in other cases, it is usually caused because people connects the fan in a 3 pin but you need to connect it in a 4 pin slot. sorry my english is broken i hope it works.

Running the fan slower won't improve it's cooling performance. A silent fan can run full spd all the time and that is what you need on a fx8350. You don't have to buy 3 there's a menu there that lets you select one. Buy soon stocks are low!
