Greetings friends
I have a bit of a problem with my pc. My cpu fan (the giant fan on the back of the case) is running extremely loudly at around 5000rpm. The thing is, the increase in speed from normal to extreme usually occurs during gaming (with the occasional at startup.)
This lead me to assume that it has to do with temperatures. So I downloaded a bunch of different temp software (such as msi afterburner, hwmoniter and speedfan) to check the temperatures when it was idle or ingame. When idle my temps are around 40-50 which is pretty normal for my computer (at least I hope so). When I play a reasonably demanding game - say guild wars 2 for instance - my gpu temp is around 60-70 (which again is pretty normal for me). My CPU temps, however, can increase to 80 or even 90c. Speedfan reads my cores as being 80+ for the majority of the time I am ingame and I am curious as to why this is as well as a little scared that my computer may be about to get out of hand.
My brother has an exact copy of my pc (Alienware Aurora R3 with a Nvidia Geforce GTX580 and Intel i7 2600 processor) and it has no problems at all.
I am positive that my fan is not supposed to run at 5000+rpm ingame, but I want to know what could possibly cause it to do so. I do not think my computer is overheating, as my brothers cpu temps are around 70 ingame and his fan does not go crazy. This change in fan speed has happened only recently I might add.
If anyone can give any assistance to this matter I would be eternally grateful
Thanks in advance
