CPU for GTX 1070?

Hi! I am willing to purchase a PC for gaming in the near future and I have not decided what CPU to pair with an ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 STRIX Gaming.My idea was to purchase an i5 6500 Skylake,would it be a good choice for mostly gaming? (note: I don't want to purchase an unlocked CPU,that means more money for overclocking,something that I don't want to do) Thanks.

you should be fine with an i5 6500 , it's a good decision to pair it with a gtx 1070.

Yeah, i5-6500 is a great pair with the GTX 1070. For about a $100 more, you could also get an i7-6700. It would give you a 10-20% performance increase paired with a GTX 1070 on CPU intensive games, but on most games, there will be no difference in performance. Of course the extra $100 doesn't justify the performance gain, but if you have the money to spare, then it's worth considering. The awesome feeling of using an i7 could be well worth your extra $100.
